Mumtaz Sarfraz (1913 - 1992)

Before the establishment of FHRI, the late Mrs. Mumtaz Sarfraz worked tirelessly for the welfare of the poor in their village of Medina, located in District Gujrat in the Punjab province of Pakistan.  Mumtaz in particular supported several women's causes in the village:

  • vocational training to young girls - including sewing and thread work
  • financial support for daily rations
  • assistance in marriage expenses
  • support with funeral expenses

FHRI is a non-governmental organization
in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations
